OK, just had a long conversation with two pedi doctors.  They think Chrissie is just tolerant to the pain meds, but they've got all the bases covered with instructions to add in some "baseline" meds tomorrow which will help control pain for longer intervals.  Those meds can't be given when on the oscillator and not even while on the transitional ventilator.  But, they're thinking that TOMORROW, they're going to try to "power wean" from the transitional vent to the normal ventilator!!!  That means they can start the other "baseline" meds that will help with longer interval pain control.  I was also informed that they've got all kinds of other drugs in Chrissie's system that counteract itching and hallucinations from morphine, so that's not an issue.  Their thinking that the morphine is lasting about 2 hours (from her drip plus the bolsters of extra morphine), then she metabolizes through it and her pain increases, as her tolerance continues to increase to morphine.  UGH.  Praise the Lord that tomorrow is a new day of new mercies with  new hope for much improvement!!!  It'll be another power wean day!  (Remember, getting Chrissie off the ECMO was one of those power weans that was a "do or die" situation, and God sustained our princess through that transition, just as He will in Chrissie's transition to the normal ventilator.)  Chrissie continues to battle as the beautiful warrior princess that she is; His chosen princess, daughter of the King of Kings.  God is guiding Chrissie in the right direction; His path is always best.  Chrissie, "Trust in the Lord with all your HEART (Chrissie, my princess, the one who holds Christ in her heart); do not lean on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight."  Proverbs 3:5

My Love, we pray for God's merciful hand of healing to be upon you at all times, comforting you in times of sorrow and stress, relieving your pain and anxiety as your mighty Great Physician, the author of your life, your Jehova Rapha, your God who heals and binds up the brokenhearted.

Chrissie, tomorrow I am claiming Isaiah 61:1-3 for you, my precious angel.  May tomorrow be your day of proclaiming your Lord's favor, a day to display His splendor as He wraps you in a garment of praise, comforting you and bestowing upon you His crown of beauty, freeing you from being held captive by the ventilator and breathing tube.  Shine, girlfriend, shine!  You are beautiful, the most beautiful of jewels, my princess!  I love you and I'm so proud of you, my precious warrior princess!

Isaiah 61:1-3:
"The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me,

because the LORD has anointed me
to preach good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners,
to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor
and the day of vengeance of our God,
to comfort all who mourn,
and provide for those who grieve in Zion—
to bestow on them a crown of beauty
instead of ashes,
the oil of gladness
instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise
instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
a planting of the LORD
for the display of his splendor."

I just wanted to write and tell you that I am so thankful that you have opened up your heart and world to those on your blog. I have been praying for the past few weeks. But, then I realized that I have several friends who know you and your family from Hays Hills. Thay have sent me e-mails requesting prayers for you and Chrissie.
God is totally working through Chrissie, the Dr.'s, and you. Chrissie will have the greatest testimony.

I know all about the morphine issues. See, I had major surgery on April 22nd, and they gave me morphine, and I started itching, but my BP bottomed out, so they had to take me off. I have been on very strong doses of very powerful pain meds for the past 2 years, and even though I can tolerate the other meds, I couldn't tolerate the morphine. Today my Dr. increased my fentanyl to 100mcg, after being on 50mcg of fentanyl for the past 6 months.
Fentanyl is about 100 times stronger than morphine, and I pray that Chrissie doesn't have to go down that route, but if she does, I am pretty sure that it will work better, without the itching, than the morphine. Also, fentanyl has a stronger and longer lasting half-life that morphine and it takes longer to be processed by the body.

I would like to send you/ Chrissie a card, is there a specific address to send to, or can I send to the hospital directly?
Let me know at

God bless and still praying,
