Funeral Arrangements

Matt and I will be meeting with the funeral home director at 10AM today.  There are so many decisions to be made, but I am trying to get a rough head count regarding how many people will be attending Chrissie's funeral.  I am not sure what day we'll have it yet (thinking maybe this Sunday, May 23, but not sure yet), but I'm wondering if our church will be large enough to host the funeral.

Would you please do me a favor to help me plan?  If you ARE going to attend Chrissie's funeral, please leave me a comment after this post.  Please do NOT leave a comment unless you are planning to attend so that I can just easily look at those comments and tabulate numbers for attendance purposes.  Feel free to tell me how many people will be attending from your party as well.  Please don't comment unless you plan to attend.  (I know that just about every one of you would like to attend, but if you leave me a comment about why you are unable to attend, that will just make more work for me trying to sift the yes's from the no's.)  I know you understand why I'm asking for only the YES RSVP comments.  I just can't mentally sort and sift right now.

Thank you for praying for us.  This is the hardest thing we've ever walked, but God is faithful and He is by our side.

PS  I will announce funeral arrangements on the blog once we have things finalized.

Yes, the Fraser family will be there. Definitely me.

The girls have a commitment and only the time arrangements will tell us if they can come too.

But I will definitely be there.

Hi Lorraine- I would like to come to Princess Chrissie's funeral. I'm in Austin, but will drive down because I would very much like to be there to honor your sweet baby girl and her brave fight. Prayers for you during this difficult time.

How my heart breaks for you and your family! I want to say good-bye to Chrissie. How sad we only met in person once! Would you believe I hadn't prayed in years? Not until you asked us to pray for Chrissie, a girl I knew was special as soon as you showed me her photo...way back when you were still getting her adoption documents together. When you finally brought her into the office, she charmed the whole room, just being her sweet, chatty self! When I read that she had caught MRSA, the same thing that complicated my mom's heart surgery in 2000 and left her brain dead, I knew I had to start talking to God again, if only to beg for Chrissie's life. And even though I couldn't change His mind about how much time she would live, I feel a peace in my own life now that wasn't there before I learned to pray again. I want to thank your little warrior princess for opening my heart so I could pray, and finally start to renew my relationship with God. I've shared her story and photos with my husband, Oscar, so he would also like to attend the funeral. And we both want to give you a big hug! If you choose to not post the funeral details on your blog, you can send them to
cardinal.song79@gmail.com Thanks :)

Lorraine, I live in New Braunfels (not far) and would be honored to attend, so YES. Even though I just met you last month- I hope its ok for me to come. You and Chrissie changed my life forever, and I would love to be there. Probably just myself, but maybe 2 of us, I haven't told Rowan yet, but I'm praying I can find the words for a 3 yr old who prayed for her and asked about her daily this past month. I'm sure I'll be using lots of your own words when I do. God Bless, Carrie

Lorrain, Matt, and family--
We are so very sorry for your loss. We would like to come celebrate Chrissie's life with you at the funeral on Sunday afternoon. All four of us will be there.

That little girl and your family's love for her have touched our hearts and we'll never be the same.

Let me know if I can do anything to help with music. Love,

Scott & Marie Cole

Hello. Maybe you could possibly amend the last post to include where you are. I have read the blogs daily, but have no idea where you live! Thanks.

Lorraine,

My heart goes out to you and your family. You precious daughter is beautiful. I have been in your shoes. We were adopting our granddaughter, Lexi, we had her since the day she came home from the hospital. On December 5, 2009 (only 5 months ago), my husband and I stood at the foot of our Princess Lexi's hospital bed, PICU at Texas Chidrens Hospital in Houston Texas, and watched for almost 3 hours while her Docors performed CPR on her. Her heart would start then after a few minutes it would stop. CPR would once again be started. I will never forget after about 2 hours of this, her DR pulled us aside and asked our permission if her heart stopped again, to NOT do CPR, to let her go. I couldnt do that. After almost 3 hours, they stopped, her heart was tired, she was not coming back. She was 18 months old. Yesterday (May 21) was her birthday, she would have been 2. Hopefully your daughter made it to Lexi's grand birthday party with the Angels. We will continue to pray for your family. If you ever need someone to talk to who knows what you are going through....I am here.

Kelly
