What is the Purpose of BYHOME?

A Facebook friend explained to me last night that she was very confused about the purpose of BYHOME. I was grateful to hear this because it helped me to know I needed to do a better job of explaining this mission! While God has made it clear to me, I have failed in making the mission clear to others.

Here was my response to my friend regarding the purpose of hosting people on our ranch through BYHOME:

First, we want to help adoptive families stay intact by providing tools, resources, education, inspiration, encouragement, fellowship, and prayer in a family camp type setting. We want all orphans to have families, and part of that pledge is to help struggling/exhausted adoptive families to stay on course.
Second, we want to come alongside families in the process of adopting by helping them to prepare for the transition into life after adoption. By having these families stay with us, they will live the post-adoptive life first-hand, taking home many tips, tools, and techniques learned with on-the-job training.
Third, we want to host potential adoptive families in our home to encourage them to consider adopting a child with special needs. By staying with us, they will see first-hand the blessing and redemption of the least of these who are so often badly abused and neglected {before being adopted}.
Fourth, we want to host people who have a heart for mission work, particularly in serving children with special needs. By serving at our ranch, we pray God will open other people's eyes, hearts, and homes to adoption and orphan care. If guests do not feel called to adopt, they can partner with Boss Your Heart Orphan Ministries so that we can help care for orphans globally in a myriad of ways, from orphanage sponsorships, to orphan sponsorships, to orphan advocacy, to helping raise money to bring orphans into families. The ways we can help financially are countless, we just need partnerships and financial support in order to do so.

I hope this explanation clears things up a little bit, but if not, please let me know if I’m not explaining things clearly. We’re working on a website and reservations to stay with us, but I just don’t have time to do everything. We’re so blessed with faithful helpers and volunteers who make a world of difference in our daily lives, but this new mission is in addition to the roles each of us already serves in, so finding time and resources to have this all come together is challenging. If you’d like to help in some way, please let us know (be specific about what talents you have and how you’d like to help please). We specifically need someone to make a video about this ministry. I’m working on a brochure now, and I’m working with a generous friend who is helping build the reservation website. There’s much to be done to launch this, but we’re clinging to the promise that NOTHING is impossible with God. We’re so grateful for all of the prayers, support, sponsorships, and gifts that have already been given. We couldn’t do this without you!

BYHOME Work Day Success!

We are so grateful for everyone who came over Saturday for our BYHOME work day!

Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who came out to lend a helping hand!!!

Together, we accomplished SO MUCH, which brings us closer to being able to launch BYHOMExperience!

God’s hand upon this ministry is mighty, and He continues to confirm that, yes, not only is this His will for our ministry at this time, but we CAN do all things through His strength.

3rd Annual Boss Your Heart Birthday Benefit

Last year (2012), we hosted an online birthday party, in memory of Chrissie’s 7th birthday, benefitting Village of Hope in Guatemala. In 2011, we hosted a team roping benefit at our ranch, in memory of Chrissie's 6th birthday, benefitting adoptive families.

This year, we’re SO EXCITED to host our 2nd annual online birthday party, in memory of Chrissie’s 8th birthday, benefitting BYHOME (Boss Your Heart Orphan Ministries Experience), our newest mission.

BYHOME is a one-of-a-kind mission, in memory of a one-of-a-kind girl! BYHOME is a mission to reach countless orphans worldwide by hosting other families/groups in the “barnonminium” on our ranch, where they will EXPERIENCE first-hand countless ways God can use them to make a difference in the lives of orphans.

To get our new mission launched (hopefully on Chrissie’s birthday, October 8), we need your help! We have the perfect set-up, a “barnominium” (1,000 square foot guest apartment above our barn), where we plan to host groups/families on our ranch where they'll EXPERIENCE first-hand how to boss their hearts as they serve alongside our family, learning about children with special needs, therapies, domestic adoption, international adoption, global orphan care, educating former orphans, helping post-adoptive families, and so much more! This is for all ages and stages of life. We will minister to post-adoptive families, families in the process of adopting, families considering adopting, and guests who may or may not have a clue about orphan care, but have hands and feet willing to serve as well as hearts and minds willing to learn. :-)

After a BYHOME stay, guests will leave with changed hearts, believing and knowing undoubtedly that ALL are precious in His Sight! Guests will leave educated, encouraged, equipped, and inspired to care for orphans in whatever way the Lord has called them, whether it’s through adoption or through one of the many other ways of living out James 1:27.

BYHOME is a much-needed ministry, the only one of its kind, and we already have guests on our waiting list! In order to launch this, we need to furnish the barnominium, and you can help us, in memory of Chrissie’s 8th birthday! The barnominium will sleep 12 people in comfy beds, plus more can bring sleeping bags if desired.

You’re also invited to attend (in real life!) the BYHOME Open House at our ranch on Chrissie's birthday, October 8. While Chrissie celebrates her 8th birthday in heaven, we'll celebrate her life and legacy here on earth. For those unable to attend in person, we’ll host a virtual tour of the BYHOME barnominium right here on our blog October 8 where the big reveal of the interior you help furnish will occur!
